Act of War: House Resolution Calls for Naval Blockade against Iran
Sun, 06/22/2008 - 21:59 — nadiaA US House of Representatives Resolution effectively requiring a naval blockade on Iran seems fast tracked for passage, gaining co-sponsors at a remarkable speed, but experts say the measures called for in the resolutions amount to an act of war.
H.CON.RES 362 calls on the president to stop all shipments of refined petroleum products from reaching Iran. It also "demands" that the President impose "stringent inspection requirements on all persons, vehicles, ships, planes, trains and cargo entering or departing Iran."
Analysts say that this would require a US naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz.

Spitzer Bust Provides a Warning Regarding NSA Spying
Tue, 03/11/2008 - 10:16 — joeBy Dave Lindorff
I have no sympathy for New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer, the hot-shot prosecutor of call-girl operations who was hoist on his own petard, as it were. I mean, what a jerk! And aside from the hypocrisy, what a fine message he was sending to his three teenage daughters about the role of women.
Having said that, Spitzer's bust should give pause to those in Congress who are ready to hand President Bush a free pass to continue his six-year campaign of warrantless spying on Americans.
The Corruption Continues: House Dems Near Surrender on Bush Spying
Tue, 03/04/2008 - 11:34 — nadiaTuesday's Washington Post reports that House Democrats are close to granting all of President Bush's demands for more domestic spying powers and telecommunications amnesty, in exchange for, well, nothing:

Catch the Terrorists!
Ensure truth seekers are running for office in your state.

For This idea to work we need 50+ volunteers
This is not a personal site- it was made for anti-war Americans to organize to stop the endless war.
Volunteers are needed as internet activists, people that can help spread the word to every anti-war website and blog in America. If they really want to end the war, surely they'll put up a link to this directory that lists true peace candidates nationwide.
We need people to blog about this, write about it, get Naomi Klein, Howard Zinn, Greg Palast and all the other concerned citizens to write about it. We need friends of stars to contact them, free concerts by every anti-war band there is. Are Greenday and Eddie Vedder for real? Then get out there and start playing some free concerts for someone on this list of Peace Candidates!
This is the logical path antiwar America can choose to overcome the mainstream media and take back our country - using the internet to unite all concerned citizens.
It's like in Bug's Life- the top 1% have more than the bottom 90%. They have all the power, but we little ants outnumber them 100 to 1. United, we can win. We need to get everyone on board- peace candidates in every state to end the war. Every antiwar blog needs to post a banner until PeaceCandidates.com is everywhere.
This is not to be self-aggrandizing, but this is the collective action we can take to end the war. Getting a few more democrats in Congress is not good enough. We need real opposition candidates, and it's up to us to find them.
We need your help. Just a few people alone cannot:
So please, antiwar activists- cut your reading in half, and start writing about the Peace Candidates. Wiki the state pages, build this site and spread the notion of regular Americans running for Congress.
What's that? There's too little time- it'll never happen? Well that's to our advantage because they're not ready for us. d- 8
